My aim as a naturopath and a human is to be as transparent as possible (without my husband divorcing me and my tween daughter disowning me), because honestly, its exhausting to try to be anything else I have found.
I have recently lost 4kg. In about 3 weeks. Without losing my mind, being crazy hungry, or taking some type of weird laxative.
Is this an earth shattering amount of weight to lose? No.
Will it make me ‘insta famous’ with my before and after shots? No.
Does this this make me one of those ‘fat to fantastic mummy bloggers’? No.
It makes me a woman who needed to lose a bit of weight from around her middle, who needed to care for her knees and hips, who wanted to sort her hormones (which weight is only part of the picture) and yes, who wanted to feel more confident in her jeans and shorts.
A woman who needed to lose a bit of weight, whilst still caring for herself, whilst caring for a family/patients and being a role model to her young daughters (who I am well aware are watching EVERYTHING I do).
I’m sure you can relate.
So how did I do this, without compromising all of the above?
I made a commitment to myself to make myself a priority.
I made a plan, and then worked the plan.
The 5 Non-Negotiables:
1/ Moving my body each and every day (this could be a 30 min walk or 10 min you tube yoga sequence on the busy days, or some type of class on others).
2/ Developing an eating plan that worked for MY busy life and schedule (I can help you with this).
3/ Learning to love myself enough to make myself a priority.
4/ Practising relaxation each and every day – this will look different for everyone – it could be meditation, reading a book, a bath, a walk in nature, watching something on Netflix, a cup of tea in your yard, etc., etc.
5/ Doing the hair/saliva sensitivity test to see which foods/household products where causing inflammation and immune reactions in my body (this is amazing), although I was a little sad when my beloved chamomile tea appears as incompatible!
Spoiler alert – trust me…. unless you nail no.3 and no.4, nothing happens.
I can help you with all of these things, but in my experience, people ignore no.3 and struggle with no.2.
So for the next 4 weeks, I will delve into this 4 points to give you a bit more insight into what I have done, and give you some ideas about what you can do too.
