Your support for a positive birth.
A Doula is a birth attendent. I am there with you
throughout labour providing you with physical, emotional and informational
support. My role is to “mother the mother”, this in
essence is what the role of a Doula is – I am there completely
for you.
I am passionate about birth and believe it truly
matters how we bring our children into the world, and for mothers
to feel confident in the choices they are making.
Women birth
in many situations in Australia today, and what ever this is,
there is always a way to bring in a sense of support,
calm, positivity and love for your child. I can provide support
to you whether you are planning to birth at a birth centre,
labour ward, public or private hospital, or birthing at home
(with an independent midwife).
As your Doula, I provide you with support during
pregnancy, throughout the birth of your baby and during the postnatal
period. This support takes many forms:
I discuss your birth options with you and your partner, help
you find resources and information and offer knowledge about
the birth process. I support you in your decisions about how
you want to birth your baby. |
I listen, and can work with you in overcoming fears or anxiety
about birth, previous birth experiences and early parenting. |
I gently encourage and support you in believing in yourself
and your ability to birth your baby. |
I trust in, and am comfortable with birth and provide reassurance
to women and partners, that what they are experiencing is normal. |
I help you create a calm and positive atmosphere in your
birthing room. |
I can provide massage and oils to use in your labour and
am knowledgable about positions and the use of water to help
your body work effectively. I am able to guide you in relaxation
techniques to help you remain calm, focused and positive. |
Using my experience as a naturopath, I can guide you in the
use of homoeopathics and natural remedies during labour, if
you wish. |
My role is not to replace your partner, but to work with
your partner so they can support you more effectively and be
involved as much as they want. |
